Announcing 8 final startups entering Decarbonize Thailand Startup Sandbox
“Decarbonize Thailand Startup Sandbox” (DTS) is a program supporting the collaboration between 8 startups and 4 of Thailand’s leading corporations to develop decarbonizing innovations and show the possibility to integrate sustainability into the industrial and energy sector of Thailand.

The “Decarbonize Thailand Startup Sandbox” or DTS is a program connecting international and Thai startups with leading Thai corporations to achieve decarbonization goals. The collaboration is between True Digital Park, the biggest hub for tech and startups in ASEAN, New Energy Nexus, a leading non-profit organization in clean and renewable energy, as well as the collaboration partners from the private sector  B.Grimm Power, CP Group, IRPC, PTT and True Corporation. On 22 July 2022, 8 startups from both overseas and Thailand which will enter the next phase were unveiled. The project is considered a crucial business pairing with Thailand’s leading companies and startups. The collective goal of the program will be to develop a series of Proof of Concept (PoC) show casing decarbonizing solutions in specific industrial sectors. Supporting the move towards achieving Net-Zero in Thailand and incorporating sustainable technologies into the Thai industrial and energy sector. All eight corporate-startup pairs– from Thailand and abroad – were paired based on a business matchmaking process and compatibility.

Startups collaborating with B. Grimm are:

Annea - A startup from Germany focuses on building efficiency in renewable energy production through a smart network. It utilizes a digital platform to conduct predictive maintenance for electricity generation from all kinds of renewable energy. It can smartly predict efficiency and check the health of machines in advance to prolong the service life and increase productivity of renewable energy.

PAC Corporation - Thai startup focuses on creating energy solutions in the air conditioning system and water usage in the industrial sector by making use of digital technology to regulate hot water systems and air conditioning. This is to help conserve energy and save on electricity bills while being environmentally-friendly.

Startups collaborating with C.P. Group are:

ETRAN - Thai startup focusing on building innovations in electric vehicles and transportation that are environmentally-friendly through the development of sustainable transportation solutions. It focuses on providing electric motorcycles that satisfy the needs of Thai people’s lifestyle with clean energy.

Startups collaborating with IRPC are:

Thai Carbon - Founded in Thailand by foreign chemical engineering experts, this startup focuses on producing advanced bio-based materials from biochar to be used as carbon storage and materials in the industrial sector. This will reduce the impact on the environment from agricultural waste and can be used to produce alternative energy to reduce the use of fossil fuel.

Krosslinker - Singapore based startup uses advanced materials technology to create environmentally-friendly thermal insulation that doesn’t create pollution from the production as it requires lower energy to produce usual thermal insulation. It can be used in conservation to increase energy efficiency in advanced industrial production.

Startups collaborating with PTT are:

ReJoule – American s tartup focuses on the electric vehicle industry. It develops the system to check the health of electric car’s batteries in order to prolong the service life and add value to batteries, maximizing the energy storage capacity and creating a sustainable product’s life cycle by reducing the long-term impact to the environment.

TIE-con - Thai startup focuses on energy conservation through the use of digital technology to build efficiency in energy consumption in office and high-rise buildings. The solution of smart energy management systems in buildings and factories through IoT and AI can help reduce indoor power consumption. It can also plan maintenance schedules for the indoor system accurately and effectively.

These 8 Corporate-startup pairs will participate in the “Decarbonize Thailand Startup Sandbox” Phase for the duration of 3 months, starting from 1 August - 31 October 2022. The pairs will work on developing their solutions into proof of concepts in the context of the corporate environment to create decarbonizing innovations for the industrial sector. They will work together to develop solutions and innovations that are beneficial to the growth of startups and the business sector, including a chance to push for oversea market expansion. At the same time, each startup will be provided with resources including Masterclass Workshops, advice on testing and developing solutions from Corporate Mentors and experts in relevant fields. They will also be provided with office space at TDPK. For the next stage of the “Decarbonize Thailand Startup Sandbox” project, there will be the DTS Symposium in November 2022. It will feature seminars and activities participated by startups, private sector, public sector, and leading organizations from different industries. Startups in the program will get to showcase their solutions to the business sector, public sector, experts and key figures within the industry. At the event, there will also be researchers, economists and relevant figures in environment and innovation who will brainstorm about the challenges, opportunities and future of Thailand in the face of climate change and transition to achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero by 2065 according to the government’s goals.
