Exhibition Highlights
The Wondrous Chamber invites visitors into a realm where imagination knows no boundaries, a world brought to life by Marthan & Martin, two endearing monsters who embody the artist’s personal memories and emotional connections.
This solo exhibition serves as an intimate journey through the artist’s inner world, expressed through paintings and sculptural elements. Each piece reflects the warmth and nostalgia of familiar spaces: a bedroom, a cozy living area, or a quiet corner of a home all transformed into a treasure trove of cherished memories.
At its heart, the exhibition is a celebration of finding magic in the ordinary of a visual “chamber of wonders” where emotions, moments, and quiet joys are preserved through art.
Artist's Inspiration
The characters Marthan & Martin are more than just fantastical figures but they are deeply personal symbols of the artist’s bond with a small black cat named Martin, who changed his life in unexpected ways.
The artist encountered a tiny black cat by chance. What began as a simple act of kindness turned into an inseparable bond. The artist sees himself as a towering figure in a whimsical world, always accompanied by his playful, curious companion.
“I never liked cats before. I met Martin by accident and decided to take care of him. That changed the way I saw not only cats but life itself.”
Their relationship inspired the artist to preserve their time together through art which is a way to freeze precious moments and feelings. Martin became a symbol of the wonder that emerges from genuine connections between humans and animals as a reminder of the sincerity that animals always seem to carry.
In The Wondrous Chamber, the artist presents 17 pieces, meticulously created over four to five months using acrylic on linen, enhanced with colored pencils for added texture and detail.
“I carefully selected each color and brushstroke myself. I want the audience to feel the warmth, the longing, and perhaps even a spark of inspiration,especially for young artists who are still discovering their path.”
Among the 17 works on display, three paintings have been selected by the artist as highlights of the exhibition. These pieces most powerfully reflect the soul of both the creator and his beloved characters, Marthan & Martin.

This piece portrays the magical room where the artist and his black cat shared joyful moments. It captures the essence of imagination free-spirited, playful, and filled with radiant memories.
2. Our Time
A deeply emotional work that speaks of a desire to pause time. It reflects the irreplaceable moments spent with Martina's dreamlike memory the artist wished to preserve forever on canvas.
3. I’m Martin
This heartfelt piece symbolizes an embrace of a tribute to the cat who inspired it all. It’s a reminder of Martin’s profound impact on the artist’s life and creative journey, serving as a source of strength for future works to come.
About the Artist: Mr. Sathavood Supboontum, also known as "Tang"
The Origin of Marthan & Martin
Marthan: A cheerful young man, Marthan was born from the sprout of a sunflower seed. During his undergraduate years, there was an art project that required the use of natural materials to create artwork. Tang (the artist) chose sunflower seeds, carefully arranging and sticking them one by one onto a frame, which formed into a monster-like shape. This concept intrigued him deeply. After that, he began sketching the poses of this seed-created monster repeatedly, which eventually crystallized into the character known as "Marthan."
Martin: A creature resembling a cat, squirrel, or black rat, Martin is the imaginary friend of Tang (the artist). Martin is a character with magical powers. When large, he has a warm heart; when of normal size, he is playful and mischievous; but when small, he becomes fragile and craves love. These traits of Martin were inspired by the quirky, adorable, and warm behavior of Tang’s own black cat, whom he loved dearly.
