การเดินทางเชิงวิชาการของ ดร. วิจิตรา สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงแนวทางการเรียนรู้แบบสหสาขาวิชาชีพ ดร. วิจิตราสำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี ด้านฟิสิกส์ จากมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ และหลังจากนั้นก็ได้จบการศึกษาวิทยาศาสตรมหาบัณฑิตสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์การสื่อสารจากมหาวิทยาลัยกลามอร์แกน สหราชอาณาจักร ซึ่งฝึกฝนทักษะในการเผยแพร่ความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพไปยังผู้ชมที่หลากหลาย หลังจากนั้นก็ได้สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาเอก ด้านพิพิธภัณฑ์จากมหาวิทยาลัยเลสเตอร์ สหราชอาณาจักร ซึ่งงานวิจัยของดร. วิจิตรา เจาะลึกถึงพลวัตที่ซับซ้อนของการสื่อสารในพิพิธภัณฑ์และการออกแบบนิทรรศการ
 
ด้านการงาน
 
ปัจจุบัน ดร. วิจิตรา ดำรงตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการกองเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรม องค์การพิพิธภัณฑ์วิทยาศาสตร์แห่งชาติ (NSM) ในประเทศไทย ดร. วิจิตรามีบทบาทสำคัญในการพัฒนาความก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีและส่งเสริมนวัตกรรมภายในองค์การพิพิธภัณฑ์ วิทยาศาสตร์และโครงการในอนาคตขององค์การพิพิธภัณฑ์วิทยาศาตร์แห่งชาติ ซึ่งรวมถึงงานวิจัยเชิงวิชาการด้านเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมที่ส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต ตามอัธยาศรัย ด้วยตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการด้านเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรม ตอกย้ำความมุ่งมั่นของดร. วิจิตรา ในการพัฒนาการเผยแพร่ความรู้ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ และการเรียนรู้วิทยาศาสตร์ เทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรม ของเเหล่งเรียนรู้ในระดับประเทศ

ผลงานต่างๆ
 
ความเชี่ยวชาญของ ดร. วิจิตรา ครอบคลุมในด้านต่างๆ รวมถึงการสื่อสารทางวิทยาศาสตร์ การออกแบบนิทรรศการพิพิธภัณฑ์ศึกษา การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางดิจิทัล และเทคโนโลยีส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต โดยดร. วิจิตราได้มีส่วนร่วมในการจัดทำหนังสือ “ณ หว้ากอ อดีต ปัจจุบัน อนาคต” รวมทั้งจัดนิทรรศการที่ระลึกเนื่องในวาระครบรอบ 150 ปี การเสด็จทอดพระเนตรสุริยุปราคาเต็มดวง ในพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ 4 ณ หว้ากอ เมืองประจวบคีรีขันธ์
นอกจากนั้น ดร. วิจิตรายังมีส่วนร่วมในงานเขียนและจัดทำหนังสือทั้งภาษาไทยและอังกฤษ ได้แก่ A-Z @ IT MUSEUM พิพิธภัณฑ์เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ ฉบับย่อ, หลักจรรยาบรรณสำหรับพิพิธภัณฑสถาน สภาการพิพิธภัณฑ์ระหว่างชาติ และ หนังสือ Communicating Science: A Global Perspective ในส่วนของประเทศไทย Thailand: From temples and palaces to modern science communication

Deep Tech Spotlight Ep. 4: ดร. วิจิตรา สุริยกุล ณ อยุธยา ผู้ขับเคลื่อนการสื่อสารวิทยาศาสตร์และนวัตกรรมพิพิธภัณฑ์

รศ. ดร. สรรพสิทธิ์ มีผลงานตีพิมพ์ในระดับนานาชาติในสาขา Food Science 100 ผลงาน ที่ได้รับการอ้างอิงมากกว่า 2,399 ครั้ง และมี  h-index เท่ากับ 30 ทำให้เป็นที่ยอมรับนับถือในวงการวิจัยโลก จากการที่ผลงานได้รับความสนใจสูง ทำให้มหาวิทยาลัยแสตนฟอร์ด สหรัฐอเมริกา ให้ความยกย่องการมีส่วนร่วมของ รศ. ดร. สรรพสิทธิ์ ในการเผยแพร่ความรู้ในสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์อาหาร

หนึ่งในงานวิจัยที่น่าจับตามองของ รศ. ดร. สรรพสิทธิ์ กล่อมเกล้า คือการนำเอนไซม์จากเครื่องในปลาทูน่า เอนไซม์ทริปซินจากม้ามปลาทูน่า มาใช้ให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด โดยการตรึงเอนไซม์ที่ได้เพื่อเพิ่มมูลค่าและการใช้ซ้ำได้ เอนไซม์ที่ได้ยังสามารถนำไปใช้ในการผลิตโปรตีนไฮโดรไลเสตและแคโรทีโนโปรตีน ทำให้เกิดผลิตภัณฑ์ที่มีมูลค่าทางเศรษฐกิจและได้รับความนิยมจากตลาด

นอกจากนี้ การวิจัยในอุตสาหกรรมการแปรรูปซูริมิก็เป็นหนึ่งในความสนใจของ รศ. ดร. สรรพสิทธิ์ ด้วยการใช้ประโยชน์จากเศษเหลือจากกระบวนการแปรรูปซูริมิ โดยนำเอนไซม์เปปซินจากกระเพาะปลาและเจลาตินจากหนังปลามาใช้ เพื่อผลิตเจลาตินไฮโดรไลเสตจากหนังปลา ที่นำมาใช้เป็นสารทดแทนสารป้องกันการสูญเสียสภาพธรรมชาติทางการค้าที่เติมในผลิตภัณฑ์ซูริมิ ทำให้ได้ซูริมิที่มีคุณภาพและเป็นที่ยอมรับของผู้บริโภค

ไม่เพียงเท่านี้ ยังมีการวิจัยการใช้เอนไซม์โปรตีเนสในการกำจัดสีน้ำตาลในน้ำผลไม้ ทำให้เกิดกระบวนการที่ไม่ใช้ความร้อนที่อุณหภูมิสูงและไม่ใช้สารเคมีซึ่งเป็นกรรมวิธีที่ใช้กันอย่างแพร่หลายในปัจจุบัน ผลลัพธ์ที่ได้คือน้ำผลไม้ที่มีสี กลิ่น รส และคุณค่าทางโภชนาการที่ดีขึ้น

Deep Tech Spotlight: รศ. ดร. สรรพสิทธิ์ กล่อมเกล้า นักวิจัยและนักอุตสาหกรรมที่ทำให้ประเทศไทยโดดเด่นในสาขา Food Science และการใช้ประโยชน์จากวัสดุเศษเหลือ

การร่วมมือระหว่าง TDPK และ TYSA:
โครงการ "Deep Tech Spotlight" เป็นความร่วมมือที่แข็งแกร่งระหว่าง TDPK และ TYSA ซึ่งมีเป้าหมายที่ชัดเจนที่จะเผยแพร่นวัตกรรมทางวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีของนักวิจัยไทย ไม่เพียงแค่ให้ความสำคัญกับผลงานของนักวิจัยเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ยังเน้นการสร้างโอกาสให้ผลงานวิจัยเหล่านั้นสามารถนำไปใช้ในโลกธุรกิจหรือต่อยอดในอนาคตได้อย่างก้าวหน้า
ในทางเศรษฐกิจสังคม นักวิจัยมีบทบาทสำคัญในการสร้างผลงานที่สร้างสรรค์และมีประโยชน์ต่อสังคม ผลงานที่ได้มาจากการวิจัยสามารถนำไปใช้ในการพัฒนาวิถีชีวิต และต่อยอดสร้างรายได้ทางธุรกิจได้ นอกจากนี้ นักวิจัยมีส่วนร่วมในการกำหนดทิศทางทางวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี ทำให้สังคมมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่สามารถเป็นประโยชน์ต่อทุกคน อย่างไรก็ตาม ความสำเร็จในการนำผลงานจากห้องทดลอง (lab) ออกสู่ตลาด (market) ยังไม่แพร่หลายมากนักในประเทศไทย ทั้งๆ ที่ อาจารย์หรือนักวิจัยไทยหลายท่านมีผลงานที่น่าสนใจ และมีการสร้างความร่วมมือกับมหาวิทยาลัยต่างประเทศที่มีชื่อเสียง TDPK และ TYSA เห็นความสำคัญของการแผยแพร่ผลงานและนักวิจัยไทย เพื่อเพิ่มโอกาสการรับรู้ในวงกว้าง ให้สามารถงานวิจัยได้รับการต่อยอดในอนาคต จึงได้จัดโครงการDeep Tech Spotlight ขึ้น
ในมุมมองของการพัฒนาด้านเทคโนโลยี เทรนด์การวิจัยในช่วงนี้ จะเน้นไปในด้าน biotech, nanotechnology, digital tech, AI, และ robotics ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับการพัฒนาวิทยาการในโลกและการพัฒนาประเทศ เพราะฉะนั้นการให้ความรู้เรื่องผลการวิจัยใหม่ๆ สามารถส่งผลต่อการพัฒนาต่อไปทั้งสิ้น
นักวิจัยไม่เพียงแค่ค้นหาความรู้ แต่ยังเป็นนักคิดที่นำเสนอไอเดียใหม่ๆ ที่เปลี่ยนแปลงโลกของเรา ด้วยบทบาทที่สำคัญนี้ นักวิจัยเป็นแรงบันดาลใจที่ผลักดันสังคมให้เติบโตขึ้นไป

ทรู ดิจิทัล พาร์ค ร่วมมือกับ TYSA ผลักดันนวัตกรรมและนักวิจัยไทยให้เป็นที่รู้จักมากขึ้น

Recently, there is shocking news about the loss of cesium-137, the most common radioactive form of cesium, from the stream power plant in Prachin Buri Province. Although now the authority has found cesium-137, it has been moved to many places, including community areas. Its effect on humans and the environment is known to be lethal. Let’s start with what is cesium-137 before moving on to its effects and how to cure it.
What is cesium-137?
Cesium-137 is the most common radioactive form of cesium. It is produced by the process called “nuclear fission”, the splitting of uranium and plutonium in a reactor or atomic bomb. It emits 2 types of radiation which are Beta particles and Gamma Rays. With a half-life of 30.17 years, cesium-137 would take 300-600 years to be broken down completely. In the meantime, it will cause many problems to the environment and individual’s health.
Use of cesium-137
After briefly mentioning many adverse effects of cesium-137, you may wonder, if it is so hazardous, then why do people still use cesium-137? Under close supervision and implementation, it can do more good than harm. With a small amount, it can be used for the calibration of radiation-detection equipment. In a large amount, is it used in medical radiation therapy devices for treating cancer, industrial gauges, and industrial device used to measure the thickness of materials.
Danger to health.  
As mentioned earlier, cesium-137 emits 2 types of radiation. Let’s go deeper into them.
Beta particles have a penetrating effect that is able to penetrate clothing and skin, causing external damage such as skin burns. It is most hazardous when inhaled or swallowed as it can do damage to internal cells and organs.
Gamma Rays are the most dangerous form of ionizing radiation which is able to penetrate barriers that stop beta particles, thus having a more powerful penetrating effect. It is able to pass through the entire body, affecting all tissues from the skin to bone marrow. This results in DNA and tissue damage, leading to a chance of developing cancer.
How do I know if I got exposed to cesium-137?
At a high level of exposure in or near the body, the symptoms shown are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding. In a more serious case, it can even cause coma and death.
Is there an antidote for cesium-137?
Currently, the antidote for cesium-137 is available and is called “Prussian Blue”. It is effective and safe for use to treat radioactive intoxication. Prussian Blue comes in a pill that can help to remove radioactive cesium from the body. The mechanism is trapping radioactive cesium from absorbing into the body. These radioactive materials are then moved through the intestine and got excreted from the body, decreasing the time it is circulating in the body. Since it only can be given by prescription, get to the hospital as fast as you can if you have the symptoms mentioned above.

Many would have heard of PM 2.5, the fine particles in the air that cause air pollution. Awareness has been widely raised on the effects of PM 2.5 on our health, such as PM 2.5’s irritation on the respiratory tract. However, that is not all PM 2.5 does to us. It harms our skin barrier too, but how? Before moving on to how, it is important to know what is oxidative stress.
What are oxidative stress and ROS?
Oxidative stress occurs when free radicals and antioxidants in the body are imbalanced. Many types of free radicals exist, but this article will mainly focus on Reactive oxygen species (ROS). Research shows that PM 2.5 may penetrate the skin and increase ROS production. As ROS rapidly increases, the body is unable to produce sufficient antioxidants, causing an imbalance in the body. Thus, PM 2.5 induces oxidative stress.
What does oxidative stress do to skin cells &amp; the body?
Cells’ organelles and chemical molecules in the body are destroyed by oxidative stress. This includes the Endoplasmic Reticulum (protein production organelle), Mitochondria (cell powerhouse), and Lysosomes (enzyme-containing organelle). These damages imposed on cell components result in skin cell damage, leading to skin cell death (keratinocyte apoptosis).
The effect of oxidative stress on the skin
A prolonged state of oxidation stress and an increase in skin cell death accelerates the skin’s aging process. The loss of collagen and elastin fibers results in fine wrinkles, sagging, and texture changes. Dark spots and discoloration on the skin can be triggered as well.
Furthermore, PM 2.5 is made up of steam and dust, mixed with chemicals such as Nitrogen oxide, Sulphur dioxide, and carbon monoxide. Since these chemicals are skin irritants, short-term exposure would cause skin acne and allergy.

After a long day, PM 2.5 particles on the skin can cause irritations. Using soap and cleansing the skin thoroughly daily will remove dirt and pollutants.

Skin cells repair themselves during sleep. Getting an adequate sleep of 6-8 hours helps to reduce oxidative stress. Furthermore, the skin makes new collagen while sleeping, which helps to prevent sagging, leaving one with plump skin.

If we talk about space industry in the 20th century, we will only see the accomplishment of white men. But since this is the 21st century, the space world, including all science and technology industries, can no longer overlook women or people of other skin colors. In July 2020, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent a spacecraft dubbed “Hope” to Mars. After seven months, it reached Mars on February 9, 2021 under the leadership of Sarah Al Amiri, who, in addition to being Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, also serves as chairwoman of the United Arab Emirates' National Space Agency.

&nbsp;
Amiri had an interest in space from the age of 12 when she saw a picture of the Andromeda galaxy, which is 2.5 million light years from Earth. Later in 2009 she graduated in programming and joined the Emirati space program that was just beginning to develop at that time. She joined the United Arab Emirates' National Space Agency (UAESA) and began working as a software engineer at the age of 22. Amiri became president of the UAESA in 2020 at the age of 33.
 
<h3>Women and science</h3>
United Arab Emirates is regarded as a country that supports gender equality at a relatively good level, despite coming from the Muslim world. This can be seen in the government's efforts to create equality across all sectors.
Project Hope, besides being a symbol of the UAE's space pioneers, is also a beacon of gender equality in the workplace. Amiri's science team is made up of 80% female. She says we've seen women leaving STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) very often, we should all be aware that this is happening and so we can do something about it.
Amiri would like to see women, who are interested in STEM, given the opportunity and encouragement to continue their work. And she hopes that young people in the United Arab Emirates and across the Arab region will turn their attention to science in schools and in higher education.

<h3>UAE space exploration</h3>
&nbsp;
The UAE is the first nation in the Middle East to successfully send a spacecraft to Mars with the main goal to map Mars’ atmosphere and collect information about climate change. This project shows the intention of the United Arab Emirates to reduce dependence on oil and gas and turn the focus to an economy that requires technology instead.

เดวิด เคยร่วมงานกับนาซ่า ทำงานโปรเจค CubeSat ทำหุ่นยนต์สำรวจอวกาศขนาดใหญ่ ที่ตอนนี้ใช้เก็บตัวอย่างข้อมูลอยู่บนดาวอังคาร และหลังจากนั้นจึงได้ร่วมมือกับเพื่อนเปิดสตาร์ทอัปของตัวเอง ปัจจุบันนี้คือ Eko
Eko ให้บริการแพลตฟอร์มการสื่อสารสำหรับองค์กรยุคใหม่ ปัจจุบันมีสำนักงานในกรุงเทพฯ นิวยอร์ก ลอนดอน กัวลาลัมเปอร์ และเพิ่งได้รับเงินทุนจากกองทุนชั้นนำของโลกระดับ Series B อีกกว่า 20 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ (หรือกว่า 660 ล้านบาท) เพื่อขยายตลาดในอเมริกา และยุโรป
เดวิดให้แง่คิดว่า “เพราะสตาร์ทอัพในตลาดมีอยู่มากมาย ก่อนที่คุณจะพ่ายแพ้ให้คนอื่น เมื่อเริ่มเดิน...ไม่กลัวที่จะล้มแต่จงระวัง และโฟกัสที่กลุ่มเป้าหมายของคุณจริงๆให้ได้ในขั้นแรก ก่อนนำธุรกิจเข้าสู่ตลาดใหญ่ขึ้น”
นอกจากนั้นยังบอกอีกว่าถ้าสตาร์ทอัปไทยอยากจะประสบความสำเร็จเป็นยูนิคอร์น ควรจะ “ตั้งจุดมุ่งหมายไปสู่เป้าหมายสากลตั้งแต่วันแรก จะทำให้บริษัทมีศักยภาพมากขึ้น”
